Bikash Hydropower Company Limited is a company incorporated under the Companies Act of Nepal, having its registered office at Maharajgunj-03, Kathmandu District. The company was initially registered with the Office of Company Registrar with Registration No. 163452 on 26th Magh 2073 as a Private Ltd. It was later converted into a Limited company on 14th Magh 2078, with the registration number 2921993/78/79. The company was registered with the Income Tax Office on 8th Falgun 2073.

Bikash Hydropower Company Limited is a company incorporated under the Companies Act of Nepal, having its registered office at Maharajgunj-03, Kathmandu District. The company was initially registered with the Office of Company Registrar with Registration No. 163452 on 26th Magh 2073 as a Private Ltd. Bikash Hydropower Company Limited was established with the motive of developing hydropower in Nepal. The main objective of the company is the generation, transmission, and distribution of hydro energy. The team is headed by Mr. Khagendra Neupane, with strong team members. The project named Upper MachhaKhola Small Hydropower Project has a capacity of 4.55 MW, i.e., 4550 KW, and is located in the western part of Nepal. It lies in Dharche Municipality of Gandaki Province, previously known as Larpak & Barpak VDC of Gorkha District. The project is accessible from Arughat via the Macha Dovan road and is about 40 km from Arughat Bazar.

The Upper MachhaKhola Small Hydropower Project is a run-of-river type project with a licensed capacity of 4550 kW. It will generate 31.15 GWh of energy annually, of which 12.05 GWh is dry energy and 19.10 GWh is wet energy. The generated power will be evacuated through the Baseri sub-station, which is approximately 25 km from the powerhouse. The substation is of 33 KV bus bar. The location of the headwork site, powerhouse site, and alignment of the water conveyance system is favorable from both topographical and geological points of view.

Major Dates:

  • Survey License for the project was obtained on 14th Kartik, 2074, from the Department of Electricity Development (DOED).
  • The Connection Agreement between Bikash Hydropower Company Limited and Nepal Electricity Authority Regional Office was signed on 15th Shrawan 2075.
  • Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) between Bikash Hydropower Company Ltd. and Nepal Electricity Authority was signed on 11th Kartik 2075, in Kathmandu, on a Take or Pay option.
  • Generation License for the project was obtained on 07th Magh, 2076, from the Department of Electricity Development (DOED).
  • RCOD date for the project was on 30th Ashad, 2080, but the project was completed 5 months before the RCOD Date, i.e., Commercial Operation Date (COD) was on 17th Falgun, 2079.
